The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 is finally here, with the Japanese bike builder revealing what has to be one of its most anticipated models for some time. Described as a new breed of performance street bike, it provides true super sport levels of power.
The new YZF-R9 boasts a dedicated super sport chassis and comprehensive electronics suite, wrapped in striking next-generation R-series styling. It’s a bike that was conceived to redefine the class by combining track-capable performance with street bike accessibility.
The R9 boasts broad, smooth power delivery, light handling, friendly ergonomics and a complete package of advanced rider aids, and is as much at home on a race circuit as it is exploring twisty roads or urban streets.
Powering the R9 is Yamaha’s 890cc CP3 triple power plant, paired with model-specific gear ratios (there’s no word on final power figures yet). A dedicated gravity cast ‘deltabox’ frame offers more rigidity for sharper handling.
It’s combined with new high spec fully adjustable KYB suspension, designed to inspire confidence for riders of all skill levels. Nine mode traction control, three mode slide control and three mode lift control all feature, along with brake and launch control systems.
A 5.0-inch full colour TFT display, speed limiter functionality, cruise control, smartphone connectivity and a full LED lighting package all feature. Brembo brakes handle the stopping duties with 320mm discs and Brembo Stylema callipers doing the duties up front.
The R9 also offers the option of being able to switch off the rear ABS, and will be available in Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Black or Intensity White/Redline. It will be priced from $23,199 ride away (until 31 March 2025).
Available to order now, stock will arrive in May of next year. You can find out more about the 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 at your local dealership, alongside the updated YZF-R3 and YZF-R7.
