Volvo releases pricing for new XC40 Recharge Pure Electric

VOLVO Australia has announced the pricing for its XC40 Recharge Pure Electric compact luxury SUV, its first all-electric vehicle, ahead of its Q3 Australian launch. It’s step one in the Swedish company’s commitment to electrifying its entire car range by 2025.

With full electric or plug-in hybrid variants on their way, the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric marks a step change in their model range, and will be available in one luxury specification at $76,990 (plus on-roads).

For this price, buyers will get a beautifully designed, all-wheel drive SUV with an impressive 400km range, packed with the latest safety and infotainment features.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is powered by twin 150kW electric motors on the front and rear axles, which provides an impressive power output of 300kW and 660Nm, fed by a 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the floor.

The electric motors power it from zero to 100kmp/h in just 4.9 seconds, making the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric one of the most powerful cars Volvo has produced. When fully charged, it has a projected range of up to 418km.

The vehicle is also designed for fast charging from zero to 80 per cent charge in around 40 minutes. Inside, the emphasis is on Scandinavian minimalist design, using aluminium accents and contrast stitching in the luxury leather accented seats.

Unlike other Volvo XC40 models, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has no start-stop button. Once it is unlocked, you simply sit in the seat, buckle up, and drive off.

The Clean Zone multi climate system removes harmful outside pollutants and particles from the cabin too. It’s also the first vehicle in Australia to come with a fully integrated Google Android infotainment operating system.

The package includes Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store built in. Other standard features include Harman/Kardon premium sound, 20-inch Matte Graphite diamond cut alloy wheels, heated seats and a swag of safety features.

Among them are city safety, collision warning and mitigation, and parking assist. The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty, and a 3-year 100,000km service wear and tear plan.

This package covers such things as wiper blades, brake pads and brake discs. There’s also 8-years roadside assistance and an 8-year battery warranty. Volvo will announce further information and specifications closer to launch.
