Upgrades across the board for new look 2020 Ford Focus

FORD has sharpened its Focus line-up for 2020, with the new model range to deliver a range of equipment upgrades and improved specifications. Paired back to just three variants, the Active and ST-Line will sit below the sporty new Ford Performance ST.

The ST-Line and Active provide distinctive, clear identities, capitalising on the driving dynamics, practicality and efficiency inherent in the new-generation Ford Focus. Both are powered by the 134kW/240Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged EcoBoost power plant.

It’s paired to an 8-speed automatic and both models are front-wheel drive, and offer 6.4-litres/100km fuel economy. Technology has been standardised across the range to now include the FordPass Connect embedded modem.

FordPass Connect brings an array of convenient remote vehicle functionality and connected services to make life simpler for Ford owners, such as remote vehicle lock and unlock.

The FordPass App also brings several services that are designed to simplify customers’ ownership experience, placing key vehicle information in the palm of their hand. These include access to roadside assistance and the ability to schedule a service online.

Everyday convenience for Focus owners is further improved with previously optional front parking sensors now standard, completing a comfort and technology suite with day-to-day purpose and ease of use.

These complement existing standard equipment, including a 180-degree reversing camera, utilising the Focus’ 8.0-inch colour touchscreen display. The display also hosts Ford’s SYNC 3 system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

From the cabin, new LED headlights improve forward vision, while also increasing visibility to other road-users. The upgraded lighting enables Focus’ daytime running lights a distinct identity though its light signature, in addition to the improved vision.

The upgraded Focus line-up also sees a bolder colour palette, with two new colours, Race Red and Fantastic Red, added to the range. Race Red was selected for the Mustang and flagship Focus ST, and is now available across the range, for the first time.

The European-sourced Focus range now also offers a better equipped ST-Line hatch, complete with unique body stying, lowered sports suspension and interior detailing, which includes unique red-seat stitching and wireless phone charging.

Specific improvements to the model sees the introduction of multi-link rear suspension, for a more refined cabin with quieter ride, truly reflecting the athletic and driver-oriented character of the ST-Line.

With its greater ground clearance and unique, off-road driving modes, the Focus Active continues to build its reputation as a weekend-getaway vehicle, with the convenience of a hatch. Trail and Slippery drive modes ensure it’s all-purpose nature is maintained.

The Active will benefit from upgraded lighting for clearer vision ahead, with multi-link rear suspension aiding off-road flexibility and on-road manners. The upgraded Focus line-up arrives in December, with pricing starting from $30,990 plus on-roads.
