Toyota updates GR performance range

Toyota Australia has boosted the safety credentials of its lightweight GR86 performance coupe, as part of a bevy of changes across the GR range, adding important active safety features to manual grades.

Additional performance upgrades have also been made to the flagship GTS. Key to the range-wide updates are the addition of autonomous emergency braking and lane departure alert on 6-speed manual versions. Leading vehicle notice offered on automatic grades.

Toyota will also offer a new optional Performance Pack on GTS grades, which enhances handling dynamics and stopping power thanks to upgrades to suspension and brakes. It adds ZF Sachs sports shock absorbers, along with red Brembo callipers front and rear.

The front scores a 4-piston setup, while it’s a 2-piston configuration on the rear. GR86 manual grades will also gain automatic high beam, adding further important safety features.

For the balance of the GR range, there’s new colours, with Plasma Orange replacing Silverstone Yellow on the Supra and Electric Blue joining the GR Corolla palette, which brings the choices for the hot hatch to five.

The new blue joins Glacier White, Liquid Mercury, Ebony and Feverish Red. For more information on any of the Toyota GR models, contact your local dealer. If you’re keen on one and need finance, talk to CreditOne.
