Toyota celebrates 10 years with Anniversary Edition GR86

Toyota Australia is celebrating a decade of the 86 sports car with the release of the limited-run GR86 10th Anniversary Edition, which arrives in Australian showrooms this month and is priced from $46,700 plus on-road costs.

Limited to just 86 examples locally, the GR86 10th Anniversary Edition is available with the choice of either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, and is based on the flagship GTS variant.

The 10th Anniversary Edition GR86 is immediately identifiable by its unique Solar Orange exterior paint scheme – a nod to the original “hachi roku” first revealed to the world in late 2011. That theme is continued inside the vehicle.

Contrast stitching is applied to the steering wheel, handbrake lever and boot, shift boot, seats and door trim. Orange stripe accents also appear on the Ultrasuede/leather accented seats too.

The inside of the door trims feature 10th Anniversary orange embroidery for a special touch and lastly, the silver instrument panel’s moulding has been changed to black for a stealthier look.

Being based on the range-topping variant of the GR86, the 10th Anniversary Edition comes with a generous equipment list, including 18-inch black alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, heated front seats, aluminium pedals, and an 8.0-inch multimedia display.

A 7.0-inch multi-information display and two-zone automatic climate control also features. Like all GR86 grades, the 10th Anniversary Edition is powered by a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine.

It develops 174kW at 7000rpm and 250Nm at 3700rpm, with power being sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Driving dynamics are aided by the standard fitment of a limited-slip Torsen differential on the rear axle.

Five different vehicle stability control settings are also available ranging from full support to being completely switched off, for those who plan to take their GR86 to track days.

GAZOO Racing Club members have been offered the opportunity to acquire priority access for expressions of interest when ordering the strictly limited 10th Anniversary Edition. For everyone else, it’s available for purchase from today (23 March).
