Thinkware calls its flagship U3000 Pro dash cam the ultimate companion, and it might well be. Offering both front and rear cameras, it delivers on its promise of unmatched clarity and advanced safety features.
Let’s start with the install. Everything you need for the basic part is in the box, which is a nice touch, but we’d highly recommend a professional installer do it for you, and adding the optional LTE Modem.
All the included cables are long enough to run to both the front and rear cameras while remaining hidden behind the interior panels, making for a clean installation. The U3000 Pro comes with radar, GPS, safety cam alert and parking surveillance.
You also get Thinkware’s advanced driver assistance system. Most sound warning chimes or alerts, which we will say are not quite loud enough to be heard over the car sound system, even at the highest volume.

We also appreciate the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the safety features to better match different driving styles. Both cameras feature a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor and the build quality is exceptional.
Vision is as good as most smartphones and compact action cameras, both day and night, with little to no clarity loss. It’s absolutely perfect for capturing all the details in any scene, including number plates.
24-hour parking surveillance mode is useful too, especially when you find yourself in an unfamiliar area. With motion and impact detection, time lapse and energy saving, any disturbance around the vehicle is recorded, and saved to the internal storage.
It provides piece of mind, as does the dedicated SIM, allowing notification if an impact occurs while you’re away from your car. You can even view it in the Thinkware Connected app on our phone, which also adds live view, parked elapsed time, and parking location.

The app supports multiple units, providing fleet management capability. You do need two different apps to manage the camera setup though, with a second Dash Cam Link app required to download stored footage.
Overall though, the Thinkware U3000 Pro is a fantastic multi-purpose dual camera dash cam setup with minimal drawbacks. It does everything you need, and has some great features missing from rival devices.
It retails for anywhere between $899 and $1299, depending on where you buy it, and is considered a premium setup by most outlets. You can find out more on the Thinkware Australia website.
Pros – feature packed; easy to use; quick and responsive app connectivity; comes with sim.
Cons – could be considered too pricey; needs two apps to use all features; may need professional installer.
