If you’re looking for a comfortable, protective boot for your next motorcycle road trip, it’s hard to go past the TCX Explorer 4 Gore-Tex touring offering. Perfect for long days in the saddle, they feel good, both on and off the bike.
With a strong focus on protection, functionality and durability they’ve stood the test of time across a solid six months of testing. As a day-to-day road boot we find them very hard to fault, as they’re pretty much perfect for commuting or long haul rides.
The versatility of the TCX Explorer 4 Gore-Tex boots is second to none. Constructed from durable microfibre and abrasive resistant fabric, with a Gore-Tex waterproof inner membrane, they’re designed for longevity.
Not only that, they’ll keep your feet dry even in heavy rain, according to the manufacturer. We can only attest to light rain testing across our time with them so far, but we definitely had dry feet at the end of the ride.

There is a thermoplastic polyurethane shift pad protector, which is specifically designed to stop additional wear on the boot. It’s a well thought out addition alongside a rear reflex reflective insert on the back of the ankle to aid low light visibility.
Reinforcements on the ankle, shin, toe and heel enhances the safety features, without reducing comfort. Fastening is nice and simple too, with an elasticated zip with wide hook and loop band allows for easy closure and adjustability to suit your personal comfort level.
It also allows the boot to be easily removed after a long day of riding. Inside, an Ortholite footbed provides long term cushioning while maintaining breathability throughout your ride. The highly wear-resistant rubber sole features differentiated grip areas too.
This offers superior stability and good grip on the foot pegs. Priced from $349.95, TCX Explorer 4 Gore-Tex Boots offer exceptional value, good quality, solid safety and superb comfort. They’re available in one colour; black.

They’re available in Mens (US 3-14) and Ladies (US 4-9.5), and you can find out more on the TCX website, or by talking to your local stockist.
Pros – excellent durability; extra protection touches; all-day comfort.
Cons – only come in black; warm in summer; footbed can move around.
