Suzuki issues voluntary recall on Fronx for rear seatbelts

Suzuki Australia has issued a voluntary safety recall on the 2025 Fronx Hybrid following a rear seatbelt failure during ANCAP testing. The Japanese car maker has acknowledged the car’s shortcomings and taken decisive action, including a full investigation.

As the brand’s investigation continues, they have identified a VIN range of potentially affected vehicles for which a voluntary safety recall has been announced. It appears that the functionality of the rear seat belt retractor mechanism may not perform as designed.

As a potential consequence excessive belt length may release in the event of collision.  This may result in injury. Suzuki Australia will advise all FRONX Hybrid customers of the listed vehicles to immediately cease using the rear seats.

Customers currently driving affected vehicles within the VIN range will be contacted by Suzuki Australia, and are also encouraged to contact the Customer Call Centre should they have any concerns.

Suzuki Motor Corporation stated it is committed to transparency and safety of its vehicle owners and drivers throughout Australia and New Zealand and are taking the necessary steps to ensure all affected vehicles are addressed as soon as possible.
