Suzuki adds V-Strom 800 for 2024

Suzuki is expanding its impressive sports adventure touring offering for 2024 with the addition of the V-Strom 800. Powered by a 776cc parallel twin, it joins its Dual Explorer (DE) sibling in the updated model range.

In the latter, that’s good for 62kW of power and 78Nm of torque, thanks to its 270-degree crankshaft which makes it sound more V-twin, and a cross balancer. We expect the new model to produce relatively similar numbers.

While the V-Strom 800DE was built to excel at riding on gravel and other loose road surfaces, the 800 evolves the chassis in the direction of providing maximum comfort and performance for long-distance touring and high-speed riding.

Weighing in at 223kg (wet), it features an 825mm seat height (with options for lower or higher setups), and has a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. It has a 20-litre fuel tank and offers 4.4-litres/100km in terms of fuel economy.

The front end features an inverted telescopic fork with coil spring, that is oil damped, while at the rear, a link-type suspension setup sports a an identical configuration. Stopping power comes from twin discs on the front and a single disc on the rear.

The new 800 also features Suzuki’s intelligent ride system, which incorporates cutting-edge electronics to elevate the riding experience. It enhances predictability and reduces fatigue, acting as a trusty co-pilot for long distance tours, carrying gear or just a weekend ride.

The idea behind the system is to ensure riders can opt for settings that best suit riding conditions and varying road surfaces as well as their level of confidence and experience. They can also benefit from the feedback those settings provide.

This allows the rider to take advantage of system to further hone their skills. Like its sibling, and the V-Strom 650, 1050 and 1050DE, there’s a wide range of accessories for the new offering, including rugged cases, locks and accessory bars.

The 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800 is expected to arrive in Australia in January and will be available in Pearl Vigor Blue for $17,490 ride away. It’s backed by a 3-year warranty. To find out more, contact your local Suzuki dealer.
