THE motor sport division of Italian super car maker Lamborghini, known as Squadra Corse, has teased footage of the first shakedown of its new track-only hypercar, a limited edition model developed in conjunction with Centro Stile Lamborghini.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine producing an insane 619kW of power, the new car features plenty of customisation to set it apart from its road cars siblings.
These include a large rear wing, air scoop on the roof and a racing hood with dual air intakes. Single nut wheels are fitted with Pirelli tires, with the whole package built on an aluminium front frame and a carbon fibre monocoque.
The hypercar has been designed to offer the highest safety standards, with an innovative self-locking type differential which allows better driveability on the track. Now entering the final stages of its development, the new vehicle is expected to debut mid-year.
Squadra Corse also manages all of Lamborghini’s racing programs, including the one make Super Trofeo Huracan EVO series, its Hurucan EVO GT3 customer racing offering, and scored a 1-2 victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona race, winning the GTD class.
It is responsible for the development of the one-off SC18 Alston, a 574kW weapon that drew inspiration from its Hurucan EVO race programs, delivered through unique design and extreme performance.
