ŠKODA’s new Octavia hits the road this April

ŠKODA’s new generation Octavia will be released in late April and is set to shake up the market, thanks to a host of new features and a number of firsts for this model line. The A8 Octavia builds on the previous A7 model, which sold 2.4 million units globally.

For most of its eight-year life cycle, the Octavia has been ŠKODA Australia’s best seller, with the new model offering a 10.0-inch infotainment screen with touch slider, the newest version of Virtual Cockpit, and an optional head-up display.

It also gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, shift-by-wire driving, LED Matrix headlights, LED fog and tail lights, traffic jam assist, emergency assist and as many as 10 airbags.

Exterior and interior design treatments are a clear step in the direction of European prestige brands, though, as ever with ŠKODA, considerably greater value is offered, with more standard equipment on each variant than ever before.

For example equipment valued at $6,250 is now present in the Octavia Ambition as standard, over and above what was found on the equivalent A7 model. Pricing is set to start from $30,390 (plus on-roads) for the SKODA Octavia 110TSI Ambition sedan.

The range tops out with the ŠKODA Octavia RS, which is set to fetch $49,090 (plus on-roads). There are two engines to choose from as well, with the Octavia 110TSI Ambition and Style featuring a 1.4-litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 110kW/250Nm.

An 8-speed automatic transmission and electronic differential lock are standard. If you choose to go for the Octavia RS you get the 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine squeezing out 180kW/370Nm.

This beauty sports a 7-speed wet clutch direct shift gearbox, and electronic front axle inter wheel lock. Standard equipment in both technology and safety across the range is jam packed too.

The list includes adaptive cruise control, front assist with warning and braking reaction to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, EBD, anti-slip regulation, and rear parking sensors.

The new ŠKODA Octavia range come with a 5-year unlimited warranty, and a range of optional packages, including Tech and Luxury on the two lower grades, and Premium on the RS. For further information, please contact your local ŠKODA dealer.
