WILL Australia get to see the most powerful road-going Lotus ever built?
Just sixty Evora GT430’s will be made available to the global market, and Lotus Cars Australia is hopeful it can score at least one of the astounding performance cars, capable of 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
There are no guarantees even that will happen, and Australia could miss out on the 1,299kg weapon that’s covered in carbon fibre components and powered by a completely reconfigured 3.5L water-cooled aluminium V6 engine, fitted with a beefy Edelbrock supercharger, pushing out around 320kW of power and 440Nm of torque.
The rear-wheel-drive monster is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox and Torsen limited slip differential, and is capable of 305km/h at the pointy end.
Sitting on 19-inch forged alloy front wheels and 20-inch rears, with a range of colour options available including gloss black and gloss red rims, the Evora GT430 grabs traction through some hefty 245 and 295 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Throw in some sensational AP brakes and a significantly improved aero package that includes enlarged and reshaped front air intakes, air blades and louvres above the front wheels, new ducts behind both sets of wheels, and a large carbon-fibre rear wing, and you should already be drooling over this thing.
No pricing details are yet known, but the launch options list includes Sparco seats, air conditioning, a touch screen infotainment system and even a cup holder.
Potential customers here in Australia can attempt to secure one by placing a non-refundable $25,000 deposit with Lotus Cars Australia.
