EURO 5 compliance and new colourways highlight changes for Royal Enfield’s ever popular 650 Twin motorcycles, with the 2022 Interceptor and Continental GT 650 models set to hit showroom floors across Australia next week.
As a result of the compliance changes, some componentry has been altered to meet regulations, however there is not expected to be any performance sacrifice. The big focus though is some great new colours, and a host of accessory options that have been added.
“The introduction of genuine motorcycle accessories (GMA) further enhanced the personalization possibilities and overall appeal of these motorcycles,” Royal Enfield’s APAC business head Vimal Sumbly said.
“We believe that the newly introduced colourways on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, along with unique customisation options will go a long way in bringing more enthusiasts into the brand fold.”
The Interceptor 650 Twin is now available in two new Single Tone colourways, Canyon Red and Ventura Blue, as well as two new custom (dual tone) colourways, Downtown Drag, and Sunset Strip, and has a new updated version of the ‘chrome’ variant in the Mark 2.
The Mark 2 Chrome Interceptor is an ode to the original Interceptor 750 that’s redolent of the heydays of California’s sun drenched culture of the 60’s.
The Interceptor 650 Twin retains the single tone Orange Crush colourway and the extremely popular dual tone Baker Express. The Continental GT 650 café racer also introduces five new colourways.
Royal Enfield has reintroduced the Continental GT 650 Twin in the much loved Rocker Red Single Tone colourway, as well as adding a British Racing Green Single Tone colourway. It’s also available in two new custom dual tone colourways.
These include Dux Deluxe and Ventura Storm, with an updated version of the chrome variant Mister Clean also added.
With seven colour options on the Interceptor 650 Twin and five new colourways on the Continental GT 650 Twin, both motorcycles will get a range of aesthetic updates as well, to compliment the new look.
Apart from the new colours, Royal Enfield is introducing blacked out rims and mudguards in single tone colour variants of the Interceptor 650 Twin, adding to the overall appeal of the motorcycle.
Royal Enfield has introduced a host of new accessories as well. To enhance the riding comfort on the Interceptor 650, two new seat options, including a standard touring dual seat and touring seat with ribbed styled stitching and cowl finish, have been introduced.
Enhancing protection will be engine guards and sump guards, available in various finishes. To add to the style, the Interceptor 650 will also offer touring mirrors, tall and short tinted fly screens, fork gaiters and much more.
Adding to the café racer style of the Continental GT 650, several personalisation options, like the painted screen kit in black, bar end mirrors, and a single seat cowl in various colours, will be available.
There are a host of other accessories as well, such as sump and engine guards for additional protection. All of these options are homologated and come with a three-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
For 2022, the Interceptor 650 in single tone colourways is now available at $10,790, while the custom colourways are $11,090, with the chrome variant Mark 2 available at $11,390. All prices are ride away.
The Continental GT 650 in standard colourways is available at $10,990, with custom colourways priced at $11,290, and the chrome variant Mister Clean for $11,590. Again, all prices are ride away.
