Renault updates Koleos with new look and extra comfort

THE 2020 Renault Koleos has a fresh new look, boasting improvements across the board, with a more assertive exterior design, enhanced interior comfort, more technology and an improved ownership program.

On the outside, an imposing front grille, new chrome inserts and wider skid plates, along with redesigned alloy wheels and Renault’s signature C-shaped LED lights create a more aggressive look.

LED fog lamps have also been fitted to give the vehicle an even stronger signature on the road. Inside, meticulous attention to detail has been lavished on the finish of the new Koleos passenger compartment.

Still generously proportioned and roomy, key cabin features have been improved to enhance the comfort and well being of passengers. Buyers will be pleased to know rear passengers still have plenty of head, shoulder and elbow room.

Its best in class knee room remains the same too. The rear bench seat can now be reclined, with two positions for passengers to rest and relax during long journeys, while the Intens now comes with an opening glass sunroof which extends over the rear seats.

New technologies give the Koleos increased safety and connectivity, thanks to a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems that includes electronic stability control, ABS, emergency brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution.

It also comes with an advanced emergency braking system, hill start assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and a rear view camera. The Zen and Intens variants also come with 360 degree parking sensors and blind spot warning.

The Intens adds automatic high/low beam headlights and easy park assist. Depending on the variant, the new Koleos can be equipped with LED Pure Vision headlamps acting both as high and low beam headlights. Daytime running lights also give it a unique look.

At night, the technology is 20 per cent more powerful than a standard halogen beam, significantly improving visibility. The rear day and night running lights feature Edge Light technology, which adds a 3D effect for clear and bright light.

All models are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a full-screen Apple CarPlay display available for the first time on Intens models. The R-LINK 2 SatNav and multimedia system is offered in two screen formats.

Again, depending on the variant, there’s a 7-inch horizontal or 8.7-inch vertical screen. The system allows drivers to personalise their driving profile (choosing features such as ambient lighting and custom speedometers), and features voice recognition.

Both USB plugs are now located under the centre console, at the base of the gear lever, for greater convenience, while the Zen and Intens models score 12 months free live traffic and 36 months of map updates from TomTom.

On the road, the All Mode 4x4i all-wheel drive system ensures constant control of the grip between the wheels and the ground to provide ultimate driveability in all situations.

Drivers can manually select transmission modes, including front-wheel drive based 2WD mode, Auto (4WD) mode, Lock (4WD) mode. The 2020 Koleos offers 210mm ground clearance, one of the highest of its category, and short overhangs.

Front and rear approach and departure angles of 18 degrees and 25 degrees respectively show a real off road capability when driving on sunken roads and even over obstacles.

It comes with Renault’s new 5:5:5 easy life ownership program, which includes a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 5-years capped price servicing (up to 150,000km) and up to 5-years service activated roadside assist.

The 2020 Renault Koleos will be sold in traditional Life, Zen and Intens variants and will be available in seven colours. It’s priced from $32,490 plus on-roads.

Mick is a car fanatic, with petrol pumping through his veins. With a deep love for cars, and what makes them tick, Mick likes things that go fast, very fast. But he also appreciates a Sunday cruise in the Rolls...... who are we kidding, he'd drive the wheels off that too.
