Quad Lock Suction Mount and Wireless Charger (product review)

I’ve been using the Quad Lock Suction Windscreen/Dash Mount, paired with the MagSafe Wireless Charger in my 2012 Jeep Wrangler for a few months now. Overall it’s been one of the most convenient phone solutions I’ve tried, even if it’s not without quirks.

Right out of the box, the build quality feels premium. The mount itself is solid, with a beefy suction cup base that sticks tenaciously to both windscreen and dash surfaces. Jeep dashboards aren’t exactly flat, so I wasn’t overly optimistic about a suction setup.

Surprisingly, it held firm through bumpy dirt roads, highway cruising, and even spirited cornering on uneven pavement. That alone impressed me, mounting systems often struggle in vehicles with textured interiors, but this seemed up to the task.

Installation was straightforward. The suction plate has a twist-lock mechanism that makes it easy to secure. I ended up using it primarily on the dash because it puts the phone directly in my line of sight, without blocking my view out the windshield.

The flexibility of the arm and the magnetic head meant I could dial in the perfect angle quickly, which is something I appreciate every time I jump into the Jeep. Now, about the MagSafe Wireless Charger: this accessory is phenomenal in concept.

It magnetically snaps your phone into place with satisfying precision and aligns perfectly every time, largely thanks to Apple’s MagSafe technology and Quad Lock’s design. That magnetic connection alone makes day-to-day use far more pleasant than fiddling with clips.

However, here’s the notable caveat: the charger isn’t truly wireless because it still requires a power cable that runs down the dash. In a Jeep Wrangler, where cabling can feel like it’s in the way of everything, that cable is definitely noticeable.

In fact, the first few times I reached for my gear stick, I caught myself annoyed at the wire dangling where I didn’t really want it. It’s not a deal-breaker by any means, but it does diminish the illusion of a clean, wireless setup.

That said, the ease of using the magnetic charger made me forget about the cable faster than I expected. There’s something genuinely addictive about being able to slide my phone into position with one hand and know it’s charging instantly without clipping anything in.

The magnet finds and locks with reassuring strength. Charging performance has been solid as well. Despite the cable annoyance, the charger keeps my phone topped up reliably during both short errands and long drives.

Heat generation seems well-managed, it’s not entirely cool, but not alarmingly hot either, which is often my worry with dashboard chargers in a vehicle that can sit in the sun. Durability is another strong suit here.

After several weeks of daily driving, including off-road excursions, the mount hasn’t loosened, slipped, or required adjustment. I’m confident it would hold up for a long time, even if I ever change vehicles.

The Quad Lock suction mount and MagSafe wireless charger are a fantastic pairing if you want an easy-to-use, reliable phone mounting and charging solution, especially in a vehicle like a Jeep Wrangler where surfaces and angles can be challenging.

The mount itself is rock solid, and the magnet-to-charge experience is genuinely delightful. The biggest shortcoming is the required cable, which interrupts the “wireless experience” and can clutter the dash area.

Still, the convenience of powerful magnets and quick attachment makes this easy to overlook for daily use. If you’re after convenience and peace of mind on the road, and don’t mind a bit of cable, this setup is absolutely worth considering.
