Pricing and specs confirmed for new BMW 3 Series

BMW has confirmed pricing and specs for the new 3 Series, unveiling the combustion-powered successor to the brand’s most successful model. Joining the i3 revealed earlier this year, it adds to the Neue Klasse sedan family.

It also marks the first time Australian customers will be offered a choice of a combustion engine and fully electric powertrains within the same generation of BMW’s iconic sports sedan.

The launch range comprises the BMW 320, M350 xDrive, i3 40 xDrive and i3 50 xDrive, with pricing beginning from $83,900 plus on-roads. Considered the brand’s best selling and most recognised model, it enters its eighth generation.

While the 320 and M350 xDrive continue the sports sedan tradition through advanced combustion powertrains, the BMW i3 range offers a fully electric interpretation of the same philosophy through eDrive technology.

Regardless of powertrain, all models benefit from the same Neue Klasse-inspired architecture, digital ecosystem and next-generation user experience. That means cleaner surfaces, sharper graphics and a more purposeful stance.

A modern interpretation of BMW’s iconic four-eyed front design, boldly sculpted wheel arches and a dynamic profile ensure the vehicle remains unmistakably a 3 Series, while signalling the beginning of a new chapter.

The result is a sedan that feels both familiar and progressive. Inside, the new BMW 3 Series family introduces a completely reimagined cockpit centred around Panoramic iDrive and Operating System X.

The new architecture delivers BMW’s most advanced human-machine interface yet and is designed to create a more intuitive and immersive driving experience, including a 3D head-up display, intelligent personal assistant and symbiotic drive.

The electric models feature ‘Heart of Joy’ vehicle dynamics controls. Together, these innovations create a seamless connection between driver, vehicle and digital ecosystem while preserving the driver-focused character that has long distinguished the BMW 3 Series.

Leading the combustion engine range, the BMW M350 xDrive combines a six-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, producing 326kW and 580Nm and accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds.

The fully electric BMW i3 range introduces sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, an 800V architecture and DC charging capability of up to 400kW. The BMW i3 50 xDrive delivers up to 345kW and 645Nm, with a WLTP driving range of up to 912km.

The BMW i3 40 xDrive offers a range of up to 710km, setting a new benchmark for long-distance electric mobility within the premium sports sedan segment. Pricing starts at $83,900 for the 320, and $128,900 for the M350 xDrive.

The i3 40xDrive is $96,900 and the i3 50 xDrive is $112,900 – all plus on-roads. You can find out more from your local BMW dealership.
