Swedish electric performance car company Polestar have confirmed plans to turn their electric roadster concept into a production car. Set to be known as the Polestar 6, electric car fans can rejoice that there is now an open top electric option available.
Set to take on the Tesla Roadster (when it arrives), customers can already reserve a build slot ahead of the Polestar 6’s 2026 launch. The new model was originally revealed in Los Angeles in March as the Polestar O2.
The Polestar 6 will come as a hard top convertible, laid out of the Polestar bespoke aluminium chassis. The power will come from an 800-volt electric dual motor architecture that is capable of 650kW and 900Nm.
This will mean a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.2 seconds and a hair flailing top speed of 250km/h. The first 500 to roll off the line will be individually numbered, and branded as the LA Concept Edition.
Each will feature the ‘Sky’ blue exterior, light leather interior and unique 21-inch wheels from the original concept. The production confirmation is the headline for Polestar’s attendance at both the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and The Quail.
The latter is a motorsport gathering of events held during Monterey Car Week. It’s name comes from the host venue; the Quail Lodge and Golf Course.
