Polestar 2 pricing revealed ahead of local launch

PRICING for Australia’s first all-electric model from Swedish electric performance car brand, Polestar, is geared to broaden the appeal of electric mobility in Australia. It’s first local model, the Polestar 2, will go on sale in January.

By delivering a compelling ownership proposition, the new Polestar 2 fastback will raise the bar in the premium electric vehicle segment, with pricing starting from $59,900 (plus on-roads) for the standard range single motor variant.

The long range version is priced at $64,900 (plus on-roads), with both single motor variants falling under the threshold for the $3,000 Electric Vehicle Rebate in New South Wales and Victoria, as well as significant stamp duty savings.

The Polestar 2 long range dual motor model headlines the range, and will launch at a highly competitive $69,900 (plus on-roads).

Added to the sharp price positioning and the comprehensive product offering, Polestar 2 buyers will also benefit from complimentary 5-year manufacturer warranty, 5-year roadside assistance, and a 5-year service plan.

This announcement is exciting news for consumers who are making the shift to a more sustainable approach to mobility, and seek the quality, design innovation, safety integrity, and performance that is central to Polestar’s DNA.

Features such as vegan upholstery, an Android Automotive OS-powered infotainment system with Google built-in, and avant-garde interior and exterior design, are all clear hallmarks of the Polestar 2.

Constant development also means that new features and system upgrades can be deployed via Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, without the need to visit a service point. It will be sold direct-to-consumers via an online sales model.

This will be supported by the physical retail presence of Polestar Spaces and Destinations, with the brand aiming to have representation in various cities around Australia from early 2022, allowing buyers to experience the Polestar 2 in person.

To simplify the digital customer journey, Polestar has kept optional equipment simple and effective in three curated equipment packages; the Pilot Pack, Plus Pack and Performance Pack.

A handful of single options like 20-inch alloy wheels and ventilated Nappa leather (requires Plus Pack) will also be available.

The Pilot Pack provides enhanced safety and driver assistance features, like adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround-view camera, blind spot information with steering support, cross traffic alert with brake support and pixel LED headlights.

The Plus Pack includes high-level, premium equipment such as a full-length panoramic glass roof, premium Harman Kardon audio with13-speakers, WeaveTech vegan upholstery, Black Ash deco panels, and heating for just about everything.

The Plus Pack also includes a heat pump, which reduces the need to use valuable battery capacity to prepare and sustain the cabin climate. The system uses ambient heat, as well as residual thermal energy from the drivetrain, to reduce energy requirements.

The Performance Pack is available for the long range dual motor variant only, and includes adjustable Öhlins dampers, Brembo brakes, forged 20-inch alloy wheels, and signature ‘Swedish Gold’ details inside and out.
