THE hot hatch market seems like it’s turning into a war zone, with new models coming from everywhere. Now the Australian arm of French car maker Peugeot has entered the fray with an ultra limited version of its 308 GTi.
The special edition Peugeot 308 GTi Sport offers a bespoke body it; with lip spoilers and a rear roof spoiler, sharper pricing, a driver training course (yes really), and is limited to just 20 examples.
Featuring greater visual muscle, the hot hatch will hit the road at $42,990 plus on-roads, with that price even including metallic paint. The lithe, 1,205kg 308 GTi is capable of accelerating from standstill to 100km/h in just 6.0 seconds.
It’s powered by a 1.6-litre turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine developing 200kW of power and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and features the latest version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit.
Inside you’ll find a 9.7-inch touchscreen, head-up instrument panel, compact leather-trimmed steering wheel, key-less entry and start, active blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist, and an advanced driver attention alert system.
On hand there’s also smartbeam assistance, speed limit recognition and recommendation, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, 3D navigation with voice recognition, and support for MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
It comes with with a Torsen limited-slip diff and also includes Peugeot Sport bucket seats, full LED headlights, massaging front seats, the Driver Sport pack, and red cabin trim. It comes with a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty and 5-year roadside assist.
The 2019 Peugeot 308 GTi Sport is available in Black, with an extremely limited number of cars also available in Artense Grey and Magnetic Blue.
