Peugeot confirms E-208 headed down under

An iconic model in the Peugeot range, the 208 is set to take on a whole new dimension, not only undergoing a complete refresh, but becoming 100 per cent electric along the way. The new model has also been confirmed for Australia.

Featuring a reinvented design and cutting-edge technologies, the Peugeot E-208 will arrive down under in 2024, although you can already register your interest with the local arm of the French car maker.

“The new E-208 is a dynamic, modern, and highly alluring city car that we believe will capture the attention of many local buyers when we welcome it to Australia next year,” Peugeot Australia managing director Kate Gillis said.

“As we continue to broaden our electrified offering, the new E-208 will strengthen our range as we re-enter the small hatch market in Australia,” she added.

“We are confident the E-208’s exciting electric performance and eye-catching design will appeal to that segment’s customer.”

Launched globally in the last few days, the new Peugeot 208 features a sportier look, the latest version of the fully digital i-Cockpit setup, and a new 10.0-inch infotainment platform.

With an estimated range of 400km from its 115kW electric motor, the E-208 can charge to 80 per cent (from 20 per cent) in less than 25 minutes. It’s also available in seven body colours (although this has not been confirmed locally).

Should all the options make it down under, you’ll be able to choose from Agueda Yellow, Selenium Grey, Artense Grey, Perla Black, Banquise White, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue. Australian specifications and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
