Performance focus for new Jaguar XE

WHEN it lands in Australia later this year, the new 2020 Jaguar XE model range will consist of just two variants, both featuring the featuring 221kW Ingenium turbocharged petrol engine in sporty R-Dynamic guise.

The new look XE gets an enhanced R-Dynamic exterior, which provides a more assertive appearance with new front and rear bumpers, and advanced all-LED headlights and tail-lights with distinctive LED signatures.

A new luxurious interior features beautiful details and premium materials, along with a new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system and 12.3-inch interactive driver display, that’s come straight from the all-electric I-PACE.

Smart Settings technology has also been loaded in and uses artificial intelligence to learn the preferences of individual drivers and adjusts seat, mirror, audio and climate settings automatically.

Built on a lightweight aluminium-intensive body construction, with double wishbone front and integral link rear suspension, the new XE comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and runs to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds.

Both the SE and HSE variants get electric leather seats, front and rear parking aids, reversing camera, lane keep assist, DAB+ audio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SE comes with 18-inch wheels.

In addition, the R-Dynamic HSE models adds 19-inch alloy wheels, the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, blind spot assist, adaptive cruise control, and high speed emergency braking.

It also gains 18-way front seats with driver’s memory, an electrically adjustable steering column and a Meridian Sound System. The 2020 Jaguar XE R-Dynamic SE is priced at $65,670 plus on-roads, with the R-Dynamic HSE at $71,940 plus on-roads.

A range of option packs provide even greater personalisation, including a dynamic handling pack; which adds enhanced dynamics, better brakes and a boot lid spoiler, and a technology pack.

Including in the tech pack is HUD, solar windscreen, wireless charging and a range of other features. Other packs include one for cold climates, a convenience pack and a premium interior upgrade pack.
