Off-road fun is back with the Volkswagen Touareg Adventure

Off-road fun makes a welcome return with the Volkswagen Touareg Adventure special edition, set to return to Australia in August with a new range of standard features and unique optional packages.

The most robust Touareg available, the 150 Adventure builds on the Touareg 190 TDI Premium variant, blending luxury comfort with off-road capability, including two unique interiors in supple Savona leather, Atacama Beige or the darker Florence Brown.

Both are matched to open-pore fine grain ash wood trim in the dashboard and doors. Set amid these two distinct cabin flavours is the expected host of high definition displays, ergonomic dials and instruments.

As with the standard Touareg, the Adventure’s active info display is also available as part of the optional Innovision package.

On the road, the Adventure is immediately recognisable. Along with distinct ‘Adventure’ badging, it rides on 19-inch ‘Esperence’ alloys and is set off by roof bars. Underneath, the Adventure is bolstered by additional under-body protection and a larger 90-litre fuel tank.

Further visual distinction can be added with Sechura Beige Metallic paint in combination with the beige interior, as well as Pure White (with beige interior). Florence Brown’s exterior colour choices are Silicone Grey and Deep Black Pearl Effect.

The Adventure includes a 360-degree camera, providing a detailed image of obstacles right around the car via the infotainment screen, enabling the special edition Touareg to negotiate obstacles and narrow paths encountered off the main road.

The Touareg Adventure also comes equipped with additional driving modes to the standard ‘Offroad Auto’ and ‘Expert’ modes, including Off-road Gravel and Off-road Sand settings.

To support these programs, tyre pressure monitoring is also a focus, with the system ensuring the driver can see that tyre pressures are all the same. It’s particularly useful when lowering pressures to drive on sand.

The driver can then use the air pump included in the boot to return the tyre pressures to the target pressure displayed on the infotainment screen for on-road driving.

As for options, Touareg Adventure customers are spoiled for choice, with two Adventure packages available. The first includes a tow bar, luggage compartment tray and front and rear mudflaps.

The second package includes a tow bar, luggage compartment tray, side steps and all-weather rubber floor mats. In addition, buyers can also add roof bar accessories including Volkswagen’s roof box range, a bike/surfboard/kayak carrier and a ski/snowboard carrier.

The Touareg Adventure is available to order through Volkswagen Australia’s national dealer network, with pricing starting from $90,990 plus on-roads. The 2020 Volkswagen Touareg Adventure is limited to 150 examples.
