As of the end of May 2022, the limited edition Proto version of Nissan’s highly anticipated Z flagship sports coupe is effectively sold out, with every available example reserved by avid customers following an invitation by the Japanese manufacturer.
Offered in an exclusive colour, with interior design tweaks to signify its special status, the Proto, like the rest of the range, is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6, making it the most powerful and fastest factory Z car ever.
“The Z is the ultimate expression of Nissan’s sports car credentials and we expected demand to be strong for this incredibly special vehicle,” Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson said.
“I’m excited to confirm that all Australian production of Z Proto spec is now sold-out.”
The 2022 Nissan Z ushers in the next chapter of Nissan’s performance segment, with the new V6 power plant delivering significant figures in both power and torque (298kW and 474Nm of torque).
This is mated to either a six speed manual transmission with synchronised rev controls, making for faster gear shifting, or a nine speed automatic, complete with paddle shifters.
It wouldn’t be a proper sports car without the inclusion of a mechanical limited-slip differential as well as launch control, both of which will be standard across the model range (we only get one spec in Australia – priced at $73,990 plus on-roads).
Those who missed out on the Proto Spec should fear not, as the standard Z will arrive in Australia mid-year. Customers can find out more at Nissan’s website, or by contacting your local Nissan dealer. If you need finance, hit up CreditOne.
