Nissan redefines compact crossovers with new JUKE

ALMOST a decade after it set the bar for compact crossovers through its distinctive personality and emphasis on fun, the next generation Nissan JUKE is set to arrive to reinvent the segment once again.

The Japanese car maker has worked hard to deliver new levels of performance and technology, within a striking yet roomier coupe crossover body, all bundled up in a package that is larger than ever before.

The next generation JUKE features Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility system, and ProPILOT, which adds in-car WiFi, over the air software updates and smart phone connectivity, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and TomTom mapping.

Safety technology gets a big lift too, with intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, traffic sign recognition, intelligent lane intervention, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot intervention.

The new JUKE also features a more athletic stance, 19-inch alloy wheels and a coupe style ‘floating roof’ design, while full LED lighting is now standard. The latest version of the JUKE also retains its iconic circular headlamps.

These now form part of a new Y-shaped signature which complements Nissan’s V-Motion grille, while an exclusive new paint option, Fuji Sunset, completes the line up of some 11 exterior colours.

Inside, the JUKE has undergone a transformation as well, and is now roomier for passengers and their belongings, with a boot capacity of 422-litres – 20 per cent more than the outgoing model.

Soft touch materials now adorn the dashboard, door trim and foot wells, offering a more premium feel, complemented by standard mono-form sport seats and optional Alcantara or leather upholstery.

A new Bose Personal Plus 8-speaker sound system also joins the new look interior, and includes two ultra-nearfield speakers, integrated into the headrests of the front seats to add to the aural experience.

Nissan has also added a new N Design grade to the range, which will introduce genuine personalisation for owners, with multiple colour combinations for body, roof and interior upholstery available. External bumpers, side sills and wheels can also be customised.

Powered by an efficient 1.0-litre 3-cylinder DIG-T turbocharged petrol engine offering 86kW of power, the new look Nissan JUKE gives drivers improved performance, fuel economy and refinement.

Available with an engaging 6-speed manual or sporty 7-speed dual clutch (DCT) with paddle shift transmission, the JUKE comes with three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport).

Mick is a car fanatic, with petrol pumping through his veins. With a deep love for cars, and what makes them tick, Mick likes things that go fast, very fast. But he also appreciates a Sunday cruise in the Rolls...... who are we kidding, he'd drive the wheels off that too.
