NISMO draws inspiration from GT3 sibling for GT-R

THE updated 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO sports a range of aerodynamic, handling and braking enhancements – inspired by Nissan’s GT3 racing program – that offer exhilarating performance unmatched by its predecessors.

For 2020, Nissan’s GT-R NISMO hits the road as a more extreme, track-orientated version of the GT-R, that has matured through rigorous refinement, and become sharper and more rewarding as a street car.

It’s powered by a NISMO-tuned 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 441kW of power and 652Nm torque, with those turbo chargers being the same ones that are currently used on the GT3 race car version of the car affectionately known as Godzilla.

The NISMO variant also features a revised 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, with a refined ‘R mode’ that now shifts gears more aggressively and intuitively, thanks to a new algorithm for the adaptive shift control.

In addition, the 2020 GT-R NISMO comes with more carbon fibre than ever before, helping reduce weight and improve aerodynamics, carbon ceramic brakes, enhanced steering and transmission, an updated wheel design and new RECARO seats.

It also has a blue titanium tipped exhaust, and a standard equipment list that includes satellite navigation with 3D mapping, an 8 inch integrated colour display with multi-touch screen, a rear view camera, and front and rear parking sensors.

A Bluetooth hands-free phone system and audio streaming is also on board, while the complete NISMO GT-R package rides on exclusive 20-inch RAYS forged aluminium wheels, incorporating a new nine-spoke design that enhances rigidity despite a weight reduction.

A diamond-cut white-and-red NISMO logo on the rim marks their exclusivity, with the new wheels paired with newly designed Dunlop tyres, which feature a new rubber compound, boosting grip by seven per cent.

The GT3 race car inspired 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO is priced at $378,000 plus on-roads, and is available now.
