NISMO boost for Australia with Omori performance centres

From Japan’s circuits and the legendary NISMO Omori Factory to one of the world’s most passionate GT-R communities, the next chapter of the brand’s global expansion is gaining momentum in Australia.

Nissan Motorsports & Customizing (NMC), together with Nissan Oceania, has confirmed a multi-phase plan to expand its NISMO presence in Australia. This means better local access to parts, accessories and heritage support, technical expertise and customer experiences.

At the heart of the plan is the establishment of NISMO Performance Centres in Australia, which makes us one of the first countries outside of Japan to have one. These centres will provide a direct link to the brand’s Omori Factory.

It will support advanced vehicle restoration programs, and feature factory-certified NISMO Meisters backed by the brand’s global expertise. The first local performance centre is targeted to open at Nissan Ferntree Gully in Victoria in the second half of 2026.

Additional locations are still to be announced. Nissan president and CEO Ivan Espinosa said the expansion of the NISMO brand into places like Australia was an important step in bringing exciting experiences to customers who value performance and authenticity.

“NISMO represents one of the most authentic expressions of Nissan’s passion for performance, innovation and customer excitement,” he said.

The announcement coincides with the visit of Yutaka Sanada, President and CEO of NMC and global head of the NISMO brand, to Sydney ahead of this weekend’s GT-R Festival. “Australia is a natural priority because of its mature performance culture,” he said.

NMC was formed in 2022 by integrating Nissan’s subsidiaries, uniting the NISMO brand’s performance and motorsports activities with AUTECH’s customisation expertise. Sanada’s visit comes at a pivotal time for NISMO.

It follows the brand’s announcement in December 2025 outlining a significant global expansion strategy. This includes plans to grow its restoration, restomod and parts businesses, initially focused on the legendary Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32, R33 and R34).

The broader global strategy will also see the NISMO brand expand its footprint into more markets, increase its model lineup, evolve beyond traditional sports cars into new segments, and reinforce Nissan’s long-established “track to road” approach.
