A straight six petrol engine, M-specific suspension technology, M Sport differential, intelligent four-wheel drive; this is the new M340i sports sedan BMW will debut at the LA Auto Show.
The new BMW 3 Series sedan is picking up more speed on its way to its actual global launch in Autumn next year too (for our overseas readers that’s Spring in the northern hemisphere), with the announcement of this extremely dynamic model variant.
The BMW M340i xDrive sedan, which is expected to offer 7.5-litres/100km fuel consumption, is powered by a newly developed straight six-cylinder petrol engine generating 275kW of power.
Together with M-specific suspension technology and intelligent four-wheel drive, the new sporty Bimmer is expected to provide outstanding driving dynamics that are unparalleled in the midsize segment.
The thinking behind the new high performance model, and the overall design of the new 3 Series, means it will be oriented towards sporting driving pleasure, with a low centre of gravity, optimised weight, well-balanced axle load distribution and increased body rigidity.
The suspension technology and aerodynamics are also precisely tuned to the new power unit’s high performance characteristics, while 18-inch light alloy wheels have been specifically matched to the 2019 BMW M340k xDrive sedan.
It is expected the new sports sedan will hit the US market in June next year, and European dealerships in July. Local pricing, specifications and availability will be announced after its launch.
The Los Angeles Auto Show starts 30 November 2019 and runs through to 9 December.
