New Leon Ve plug-in hybrid joins CUPRA lineup

CUPRA Australia has confirmed pricing and specs for its new Leon Ve hatch, with the new new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant offering 150kW of power. Its arrival completes the brand’s plan to offer a PHEV version of every combustion model in its range.

The Leon Ve hatch boasts an electric only range of 123km, and pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 110kW and 250Nm with an electric motor delivering 85kW and 330Nm. Combined torque is 350Nm.

At the centre of the system is a significantly larger 20kWh usable lithium-ion battery, almost doubling capacity compared with CUPRA’s previous-generation PHEV technology. Charging jumps from 3.6kW to 11kW (AC).

Official combined fuel consumption sits at just 1.4-litres/100km. The Leon Ve benefits from the recent model facelift too, with an evolved shark-nose front design, triangular daytime running light signature and full-width rear LED ‘coast-to-coast’ lighting.

It rides on unique 18-inch ‘Garbi’ alloy wheels previously seen on the Leon V Tribe Edition, while independent rear suspension further enhances ride quality and dynamic performance. Inside, the cabin continues CUPRA’s driver-focused approach.

That includes Dinamica-appointed sports bucket seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, heated CUPRA Supersport steering wheel and tri-zone climate control. Technology is centred around a 10.25-inch digital cockpit.

It’s joined by a 12.9-inch infotainment system with integrated navigation, illuminated climate sliders and improved processing capability. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless phone charging are also included.

Mode 2 and Mode 3 charging cables are included as standard equipment. The 2026 Leon Ve hatch is priced at $62,990 plus on-roads.

Full specifications are available on the CUPRA website or via the brand’s Agent Garages. The Leon Ve is available to order now, with showroom vehicle arrivals and first deliveries starting in June of this year.
