Muscle, mission and momentum for Race For A Cure

If you’re a motorsport fan, unless you were living under a rock over the weekend, you’ll know that Supercars driver Thomas Randle and brothers Ben and Michael Kavich won the Bathurst 6 Hour – the grueling endurance race for production cars.

What you may not know is that Team Thryv | Race For A Cure used the event to unveil its new TA2 Chevrolet Camaro, opening a significant new chapter for what has until now been a “once a year” entry into the Mount Panorama event.

The striking Chevrolet Camaro puts the Kavich brothers firmly on the TA2 grid, giving the initiative a presence in one of Australian motorsport’s most high-profile categories. It also allows them to further promote and support the Breast Cancer Trials initiative.

What began as one family’s response to breast cancer has grown into something with considerable weight and reach. After Toula Kavich was diagnosed in 2016, Ben and Michael turned their passion for motorsport into a platform for purpose.

They built a fundraising movement that has already raised more than $300,000. Now, with the unveiling of the Team Thryv | Race For A Cure Camaro for the TA2 Muscle Car Series, that mission is stepping onto a new stage, in a bid to connect with even more Australians.

The first race adds another meaningful layer to the story. Lead driver Ben Kavich will share driving duties in Ipswich, Queensland (1-3 May) with first time co-driver Ben Grice, son of two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Allan Grice.

The moment carries a strong family resonance, with the connection stretching back to 1985, when Ben’s father Tony Kavich drove with Allan Grice at the Pepsi 250 at Oran Park.

“Unveiling the Camaro felt like a real line-in-the-sand moment for us,” Ben said. “TA2 is a category with huge presence and energy, and it gives Team Thryv | Race For A Cure a bold new way to keep building awareness and backing Breast Cancer Trials.”

Elise Balsillie, Head of Thryv Australia and New Zealand, said being part of the 2026 TA2 Muscle Car Series gives Team Thryv | Race For A Cure the kind of platform that matches both the strength of the cause and the energy behind it.

“The Camaro brings real presence to the track, and TA2 brings a level of excitement and visibility that makes it a powerful home for Team Thryv | Race For A Cure. It is bold, it is high-profile and it gives this mission the kind of stage it deserves,” she said.

“What makes this partnership so meaningful is that there is substance behind every part of it. Ben, Michael and Toula have built something with genuine heart, and we are proud to support them with that and turn their personal experience into awareness, action and impact.”

Breast Cancer Trials CEO Karen Price echoed the sentiment. “We are very grateful to Ben, Michael, Toula and Thryv for continuing to channel their passion, profile and community support into research that improves outcomes for those affected by breast cancer.”

With the Chevrolet Camaro now revealed and the Queensland round ahead, Team Thryv | Race For A Cure is carrying its mission forward with fresh momentum, strong family ties and a clear commitment to making every race matter.
