MG4 XPower EV pricing announced for Australia

Final specs and the price for the new MG4 XPower electric hot hatch have been announced, alongside the opening of pre-registration to own one. Built on a high-performance all-wheel drive platform, it will be priced at at $59,990 plus on-roads.

Underpinned by the MG4’s modular scalable platform, the XPower is equipped with a dual motor configuration that sees a 150kW front motor and 170kW rear motor. That combination delivers up to 320kW of power and 600Nm of torque.

It ensures the new model is capable of tackling the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds, firmly positioning it alongside the most potent high-performance cars on the market. Technology upgrades effectively distribute power and maximise driver engagement while cornering too.

A new dynamic cornering control system will be available for the first time, featuring a locking electronic differential and intelligent motor control to allow torque vectoring between all four wheels.

A comprehensive series of suspension upgrades (with stiffness up 25 per cent), featuring recalibrated spring and damper tuning, stiffer anti-roll bars and sharper steering have been thrown into the mix as well.

The 64kWh battery is also capable of recharging at up to 140kW, allowing a charge time of only 26 minutes from 10 to 80 per cent, via a 150kW DC rapid charger.

“EVs don’t necessarily have to be boring, and the new MG4 XPower is proof that performance can be affordable,” MG Motor ANZ CEO Peter Ciao said.

“The MG4 XPower has supercar performance packed with features including launch control and a track mode inspired lap timer showing that a compact EV can be affordable, practical and spirited to drive.”
