MG launches first pure electric model

FULL electrification has arrived at MG Motor with the launch of the MG EZS at Auto Guangzhou 2018, China’s premiere motor show – with the new model an all-electric evolution of the popular compact SUV, the ZS.

Set to launch in China and Europe in 2019, availability to the local Australian market is yet to be determined. When it does arrive, it will come with an impressive cruising range of up to 428km, with electricity consumption using just 13.8kW/100km of power.

MG Motor is owned by China’s largest car maker SAIC Motor, who also manufacture LDV among a raft of brands now pushing onto the global automotive market.

The brand operates locally as MG Motor Australia, with its marketing director Danny Lenartic advising that the company would continue to evaluate the market to determine demand from Australian consumers for a fully electric version of the ZS.

“We’re inspired to see the continued innovation emerging from the global SAIC technical centre of excellence in Shanghai,” he said.

“Having launched the ZS in Australia with two engine options and to wide acclaim by our customers, MG Motor Australia will continue to evaluate the local market demand for the fully electric version of the ZS.”
