MG adds rear-wheel drive variant to Cyberster range

MG has announced the launch of a new variant for its Cyberster electric sports car, with the addition of a rear-wheel drive offering, and a new colour – Mayfair Blue. It joins the existing 77kWh all-wheel drive offering.

The new variant can be ordered from today (24 April 2025) and is priced from $99,900 plus on-roads. Designed to celebrate 100 years of MG vehicles, the Cyberster combines the heritage of its famous roadsters, such as the MGB, with EV technology.

Built on the same platform as the MG4, the Cyberster RWD delivers 250kW and 475Nm for a 0-100km/h sprint in 5.2 seconds. It has a range of 552km and rides on 19-inch alloys. Its AWD sibling boasts up to 375kW of power and 725Nm of torque.

The latter is capable of launching the soft-top roadster to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds, with a range of up to 500km. Its design is both bold and sleek, with the AWD version of the convertible riding on stylish 20-inch wheels. It’s priced at $115,000 plus on-roads.

Featuring detailed headlights and Union-Jack inspired taillight designs, its long scissor doors open to reveal a modern driver-focused cockpit with three panoramic LED displays. A fourth screen sits in the centre console.

“We are excited to launch an additional variant in Australia,” MG Motor Australia CEO Peter Ciao said. “MG fans have asked for the rear-wheel-drive model, and we’re excited to now be able to deliver this model.”
