Mercedes-Benz A 250 sedan arrives in Australia

THE addition of two new variants featuring the same feisty turbocharged 2.0-litre engine as the popular Mercedes-Benz A 250 hatch are set to round out a diverse offering for the A-Class sedan range, which was introduced locally in 2019.

Joining the existing lineup is the A 250 sedan and the A 250 4MATIC sedan, both of which will slot into the range between the Mercedes-Benz A 180 sedan and the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC sedan offering.

The sedan range provides a stylish, more practical alternative to hatchback variants of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class family, offering boot space of 420 litres, an increase of 50 litres over the hatchbacks, and a 950mm-wide boot opening for easy loading of larger items.

The new A 250 sedan, in both front wheel drive and 4MATIC (all-wheel-drive), is owered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine (165kW/350Nm), paired to a 7G-DCT seven speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment on the A 250 includes the advanced MBUX multimedia system with navigation, extensive personalisation and voice control functions, two 10.25-inch digital display screens arranged in widescreen format and THERMATIC climate control.

Key-less start, DAB+ digital radio, a 225-watt nine-speaker sound system, the latest generation sports steering wheel with touch controllers, reversing camera, smartphone integration with wireless charging, and steering wheel shift paddles also feature.

Advanced safety equipment including active brake assist, active lane keep assist, traffic sign assist and adaptive high-beam assist.

The A 250 sedan also incorporates Mercedes me Connect, the smartphone app that allows direct interactivity with the vehicle including functions to lock or unlock the doors, start the engine remotely, access key vehicle information or configure servicing requirements.

Riding on 5-twin spoke 18-inch alloy wheels in high sheen black, it also features a two pipe, chrome look exhaust system. The 2020 A 250 sedan is on sale now, with first deliveries from later this month. Pricing starts from $53,000 plus on-roads.

The Mercedes-Benz A 250 4MATIC sedan adds several desirable features over the A 250, in addition to the all weather assurance and superior dynamics of the 4MATIC all wheel drive system.

The A 250 4MATIC sedan includes the key-less-GO system, comfort sports seats in DINAMICA microfibre, brushed stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs, ambient lighting featuring 64 colours, and red contrast stitching.

A Nappa leather steering wheel with a flattened lower section and a panoramic glass sunroof are also included. Trim enhancements include AMG body styling on front and rear aprons and side sill panels, and a ‘diamond’ radiator grille.

Dark-tinted rear privacy glass, and performance upgrades such as the Sports Direct steering system, perforated front brake discs and lowered comfort suspension are also on board. The A 250 4MATIC sedan starts at $59,200 plus on-roads.
