McLaren launches 600LT in Australia

IT’S the lightest, most powerful and quickest road legal model to ever join McLaren Automotive’s Sports Series range, and it’s now available in Australia, following today’s official launch of the new 600LT in Sydney.

Powered by a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8, the 600LT is capable of a 0-100km/h sprint in 2.9 seconds and 0-200km/h in 8.2 seconds. To put that second time into perspective, that’s faster than the new Lamborghini Aventador Performante.

Dry weighted at 1,274kg, close to 100kg lighter than the McLaren 570S on which it’s based, the 600LT has carbon fibre and lightweight materials everywhere, and boasts an astounding 620Nm of torque and 441kW of power.

In a short presentation that detailed the history of the McLaren long tail era, starting with the legendary F1 GTR LT, McLaren’s Asia Pacific Managing Director, George Biggs described the 600LT as something truly special.

“The LT redefines expectations of super-sportscar performance and pays homage to McLaren’s rich racing history,” he said. “We’ve already received an incredible amount of interest… I’m looking forward to seeing it on Australian roads.”

Capable of coming to a complete stop from some 200km/h in just 117 metres, the new kid on the LT block features a unique exhaust system with top exit pipes and enhanced body work.

Deliveries of the McLaren 600LT will commence in Australia in late 2018, and manufacturing will be limited to a single 12 month period, starting this month, to ensure model exclusivity.

The incredible hypercar or super-sportscar if you prefer, will retail for $455,000 plus on-roads, with McLaren’s three local dealerships already taking orders.
