WE have spent the last month putting the Maverick armoured hoodie from Raptor Biker Wear through its paces, and we have to say, we’re extremely impressed with the additional safety it offers riders.
Designed to not only look good, it features a full kevlar lining and CE Approved body armour inserts. The quality is first class, and not like the lesser products you may find online at those mass selling websites we shall not name.
Offering a safe alternative for riders who may not want to wear full leathers all the time, Raptor’s Maverick hoodie offers great airflow while you ride, keeping you cool on those low to mid 20 degree days.
CE Approved armour features in the elbows, shoulder and back and offers a much greater level of protection than a standard jumper or hoodie, and that’s before you factor in the full DuPont poly/kevlar lining.
This ensures that if the unfortunate does happen, you have maximum protection. You can even visit Raptor Biker Wear’s website and watch a destruction test on another hoodie in their range (the Sidewinder).
The Raptor Biker Wear Maverick armoured hoodie features two outer zipped pockets, three inner pockets with seals, thick cuffs and waist band, a YKK zip, and a mesh inner liner. The armour is removable too.
The full product range includes two more hoodies, including the Sidewinder we already mentioned and the Heatseeker. Raptor also offer a range of Renegade kevlar shirts, which we’ll be reviewing in the near future.
In terms of colours, the Maverick comes in black, and that’s it. The good news is black goes with everything, no matter what colour or style bike you ride. It’s priced at around $140 Australian and there’s currently free shipping worldwide.
At that price, there is no excuse to not be wearing a proper hoodie, designed specifically for motorcycle use. If you want to know more, or are keen to purchase the Maverick armoured hoodie by Raptor Biker Wear, visit their website at www.raptorbikerwear.com
It comes in a massive range of sizes, from small to 6XL. It’s worth noting too, that the online sizing guide is accurate.

Pros – lightweight; good air flow; offers additional protection for riders.
Cons – nowhere to try it on in Australia; limited colour options.
Such a wonderful detail.
Hi Jeanny – The gear from Raptor is really well made, we also have the Renegade Kevlar Shirt in for testing and it is quickly becoming one of my favourite bits of bike kit.
