LEGENDARY Italian car maker Maserati has expanded its Quattroporte range for 2016 with the addition of a new variant powered by the 330 bhp version of its twin turbo V6 engine providing an unmatched blend of the performance expected of a Maserati combined with fuel and emissions figures that are the lowest ever offered by a petrol-powered Quattroporte.
“The addition of the 330 bhp Quattroporte is a measure of both the success of the new Quattroporte in taking the style, performance and exclusivity to a wider audience and our desire to enable more clients to enjoy the unique Maserati Quattroporte experience,” Maserati COO (Australia, New Zealand and South Africa) Glen Sealey said. “The additional version provides a new entry point for the petrol-powered Quattroporte and yet maintains the benchmarks of what has made this model such an outstanding success.”
Not to be outdone, the other three variants of the Quattroporte have all had their engines upgraded to the latest Euro6 standard, providing fuel and emission improvements of up to 12 per cent over the engines they replace. The new engines also all offer Stop/Start technology.
In addition the powertrain changes, Maserati has also taken the opportunity to boost equipment levels in its range topping models. The new equipment includes Blind Spot Alert and Rear Cross Path both of which warn drivers of cars that would otherwise be invisible and which could be in danger of colliding with the Quattroporte. Ease of use is enhanced with the new power operated boot, which in addition to be able to be operated remotely using the key, it is also possible to open and close the boot simply by waving a foot under the rear bumper.
With the addition of the premium Harmon Kardon sound system as standard in all versions of the Quattroporte, there is a substantial improvement in the sound system’s power and quality, with an increase of 300 watts in power and a new 12 channel amplifier powering 12 Harmon Kardon speakers each with an audio response designed specifically for the Quattroporte’s interior.
Further enhancements include auto dipping door and interior mirrors and Easy Entry remote door release for the driver’s door. The voice activated Siri Personal Assistant makes full use of the Maserati Telematics System even easier and more intuitive with the full range of features on iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Personalization, a hall market of Maserati’s exclusivity, is further enlarged with a wider range of optional stitched upholstery finishes, such as a new range of Trident logos stitched into the headrests and, on the technical side, the additional Clari-Fi technology with the optional Bowers and Wilkins Sound System. This significantly reduces the distortion and loss of the high and low frequencies caused by the most common music compression algorithms, such as MP3 and ACC and those used by radio stations and music stream services.
“The new Quattroporte has confirmed its position as the benchmark for luxury performance sedans with its blend of exclusivity, Italian style, craftsmanship, lavish space, luxury and, of course, performance,” Sealey said. “These changes widen its ability, enrich its appeal and further lift its exclusivity as well as extending its coverage of the market place.”
