Luxury meets sport in the 2022 Genesis G80

The 2022 Genesis G80 has arrived, headlined by new Sport and Sport Line variants, with an upgraded Luxury Package, and additional standard safety and convenience features across the range.

The new 2.5T Sport Line variant teams G80’s 224kW, 422Nm turbocharged rear-wheel drive powertrain with road preview electronically controlled suspension, larger brakes with four-piston monobloc front callipers, and exclusive touches.

These include a sports interior, exterior styling changes and 20-inch alloy wheels. The new 3.5T Sport variant pairs the 279kW, 530Nm twin-turbocharged all-wheel drive powertrain with rear-wheel steering, and an active road noise control system.

It also scores a new Sport+ drive mode, and launch control, in addition to all the Sport Line features. The 2022 G80’s standard safety package is enhanced with the addition of an intelligent speed limit assist system as well.

As part of the optional Luxury Package, the G80 now features driver and front passenger ergo motion seats, and a wireless phone charger for rear occupants.

The G80 2.5T receives new 19-inch alloy wheels, and there’s a handy second rear USB charging port as standard. The Sport and Sport Line variants also adopt a more aggressive image that opens with a unique front bumper.

New enlarged lower intakes and air curtain inlets, and a dark chrome front grille, with matching dark chrome exterior highlights feature, with a redesigned rear bumper with side air vents and dual exhausts with Crest Grille-shaped finishers rounding out the look.

A choice of 13 exterior colours are offered, including 11 gloss finishes, and two optional mattes – Verbier White and Makalu Grey – which are exclusively available on vehicles with Sport Line/Sport and Luxury Package.

In addition, the classy Cavendish Red and Mallorca Blue are exclusively offered for Sport Line and Sport variants.

Inside, Sport variants feature styling revisions throughout the cabin, including a three-spoke Sport steering wheel, sports seat quilting and Real Carbon trim. In addition, the Luxury Package brings unique ‘V Stitch’ sport seat quilting.

There are eight upholstery choices in a selection of six colours, with three trims in open pore real wood or Real Carbon trim. Dune Beige with Olive Ash trim is reserved for the G80 Luxury package.

Sevilla Red Sport upholstery is exclusive to the G80 Sport/Sport Line with Luxury Package.

From a pricing perspective, the 2.5-T RWD variant hits the tarmac at $86,000 plus on-roads. It’s more powerful sibling tips the scales at $102,000 plus on-roads. The Luxury Package adds $13,000 to either model.

All vehicles come with complimentary scheduled servicing, and a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty. The Genesis-To-You concierge and courtesy vehicle service are also available, along with a valet service. Genesis also provides 24/7 premium roadside assistance.
