Lotus Cars Australia has confirmed that reservations are now being taken for the Lotus Emira GT4 race car, with production starting in Q1 2022. Interested parties can reserve a build slot from the global production with a $70,000 deposit.
“Two build slot cars have already been reserved by Australian customers. We are very active in the Australian motorsport arena, providing comprehensive technical support and operational services to our customers, many of whom have gone on to win Targa and track championships,” Lotus Cars Australia CEO Lee Knappett said.
“For us the Emira GT4 represents a unique opportunity for a local enthusiast to own a factory spec’d and built car which they can use in competitive and non competitive motorsport environments,” he added.
“Our team can help enthusiasts enjoy motorsport in a purpose built machine, with all the support required to just have fun, or to be ultra competitive.”
Lotus Cars Australia is investigating how many motor sport classes across track and Targa formats the car will be eligible for, with the new competition-spec GT4 using the critically acclaimed Emira sports car as its core.
It has been developed in collaboration with project partner RML Group who have previously won prestigious races and championships including in British GT, Dubai 24hrs, Barcelona 24hrs, European GT, Sepang 12hrs the Pirelli World Challenge and more.
Each vehicle will be a homologated performance machine, hand-built with lightweight motorsport components and equipment to meet the latest safety regulations.
The Hethel-based development team has focused on precision engineering to deliver outstanding dynamics and high-speed stability.
The advanced composite bodywork makes the car exceptionally lightweight and, coupled with Toyota’s proven 3.5-litre V6 engine and optimised GT4 aerodynamics derived from the road-going Emira’s advanced exterior design, it promises to be more than competitive.
“The all-new Emira GT4 is an exciting next step following the hugely successful launch of the Emira road car. We have worked hard with the team at RML Group to ensure this next-generation of Lotus GT car will deliver race-winning performance,” Lotus race program manager Richard Selwin said.
“We are delighted to be collaborating with Lotus on the all-new Emira GT4 Concept. Both companies have a long and successful motorsport pedigree, and to bring that together at such an exciting time for Lotus is a welcome validation of our vision and values,” RML commercial director Simon Holloway added.
