Lexus introduces special edition Black Line for IS

AN increase in bespoke appointments and upgrades feature on the new Lexus IS 300 and 350 Black Line special edition, combining the muscular rear-wheel drive proportions of the IS with trademark Lexus craftsmanship.

The exterior of the IS Black Line special edition exclusively features a distinctive black Lexus ‘spindle’ grille, black mirror caps and black 18-inch alloy wheels. It can be had in four colours, including White Nova, Liquid Metal, Graphite Black and Cobalt Mica.

Inside, a special exclusive Black/Grey seat trim colour combines black broader trim surfacing with light-grey accents and blue-grey stitching. Indigo wood trim has also been employed across the top of the F Sport perforated leather steering wheel.

Blue texture has been used on the power window switch surrounds, and passenger-side dashboard ornamentation. The addition of front-door-mounted projector lamps, which illuminate the Lexus logo onto the ground on entry to the vehicle, adds a further touch.

“Lexus is renowned for focusing on the nuanced appointments that distinguish it as a tailored luxury lifestyle brand, and the Black Line special edition enables customers to choose an IS with more tactile finishes and sleeker visual cues,” Lexus Australia CEO Scott Thompson said.

The IS 300 Black Line special edition is available from $69,707 plus on-roads, with metallic paint as standard, while the IS 350 Black Line is available from $75,522, again plus on-roads.

There will be 105 units of the IS 300 Black Line special edition arriving locally, and an additional 45 units of the IS 350 Black Line special edition. Every Lexus IS variant includes a range of outstanding standard features.

These include clearance and rear parking sonars, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, power-adjustable steering column, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, a 10.3-inch widescreen display, 10-speaker audio and satellite navigation.

DAB+ digital radio and voice control are also on board, along with the Lexus Safety System Plus, which adds bi-LED headlamps with auto high-beam, lane departure warning with sway warning, active cruise, and pre-collision with pedestrian detection.

The Black Line special edition shares adaptive variable suspension, high-friction front brake pads, sports seats with driver memory settings, smart key card, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert with F Sport variants.

An enhancement pack that adds a 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and moon roof is available for the IS 300 Black Line. That variant is powered by a 180kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine.

The Lexus IS 350 is powered by a 232kW/380Nm 3.5-litre petrol V6 engine, capable of the 0-100km/h journey in 5.9 seconds. Both models feature an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters as standard.
