Last remaining R-Spec Mustangs set to arrive in Ford dealerships

THE final production run of the Ford Mustang R-SPEC is set to arrive in showrooms across Australia in the coming days, with the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 limited edition model now close to being sold out.

Built in collaboration with Herrod Performance, the R-SPEC recently returned to full production after being temporarily slowed during the COVID-19 pandemic, while Ford produced 200,000 face masks for frontline healthcare workers.

That has allowed the final batch to be finished and shipped to dealers, offering a rare opportunity for car enthusiasts to obtain an example of the most potent Mustang ever sold in Australia.

“Enthusiasts who are looking for the ultimate Mustang Fastback should look no further than the supercharged R-SPEC,” said Kay Hart, President and CEO, Ford Australia and New Zealand.

“We’re proud of all the work that’s gone into bringing this genuinely local Mustang to enthusiasts. Ford and Herrod Performance have together responded to a passionate customer base, who were looking for a range-topping, individually numbered model that has a unique place in Mustang history,” she said.

“With the final batch of Mustang R-SPECs soon to reach dealers, we want to thank our loyal customers who waited patiently for their vehicles to arrive and are now able to enjoy them on the open road,” said Rob Herrod, Director, Herrod Performance.

“The enthusiasm for this special car, and the passion put into the entire project, is a testament to the Mustang fan-base in Australia.”

The R-SPEC customer benefits include Ford’s service loan car program, and Auto Club membership, with roadside assistance. It comes with the latest SYNC 3 infotainment system, including sat-nav map updates.

Ford is also offering the $299 maximum service price payable for a standard A scheduled service for up to 24 months or 40,000km (whichever comes first), at participating Ford dealers. The 2020 Ford Mustang R-SPEC is strictly limited to 500 units.

It’s available in Grabber Lime, Twister Orange, Oxford White and Velocity Blue. Prices start at $99,980 plus on-roads.
