The order books are about to open on Korean car maker Kia’s game changing EV6 GT. The brand’s new halo model boasts 430kW of power and 740Nm of torque, delivering a sprint time to 100km/h of just 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 260km/h.
Its all-electric drive train consists of two motors, one front and one rear, with the duo producing 160kW and 270kW respectively. This is a significant power increase over the already quick GT-Line.
To help put all that power down on the black stuff, Kia have provided a raft of other upgrades, including semi-active suspension with adjustable dampers, and an electronic limited slip differential.
The adjustable elements of the car have been tuned for Australian roads, with the new model also featuring new drive modes, including drift. For those who are particularly fussy, there’s also a “my Drive Mode” to fully customise for yourself.
The EV6 GT comes with bigger brakes too, highlighted by their neon green painted callipers. These sport 380mm ventilated discs at the front, and 360mm at the rear. The GT also has added bracing throughout the car for body rigidity.

New GT bucket seats feature up front, for a nice body-hugging experience, while other new tech includes an augmented reality head-up display, and 3D surround view cameras to make parking a piece of cake.
You’ll also find Matrix LED headlights, 21-inch machined alloy wheels and five colour choices. The latter includes Moonscape, Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue and Snow White Pearl.
Pricing is yet to be announced and will be provided, along with a full specification of the new model, closer to its local launch. In the meantime, Kia has established a dedicated page on its website for more information.
