Kawasaki have announced the arrival of two new electric motorcycles, set to go on sale in Australia this year. The Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 are classified as 125cc-class bikes and are designed to offer a light-hearted solution to urban commuting.
Set to be priced under $12,000, making them the cheapest option in their space, both bikes are powered by a 5kW-rated electric motor producing a quick response and strong low-end power, facilitating control and contributing to quick acceleration from a stop.
Dual lithium-ion batteries weigh 11.5kg each, which can be plugged into a household outlet through a dedicated charger, or removed and charged. It should take around 3.7 hours to get them back to full power.
Each features two riding modes, Road and Eco, with the former delivering a top speed of 88km/h on the Ninja and 85km/h on the Z-e1. Eco mode speed is limited to 64km/h and 62km/h respectively.
A chassis based on Kawasaki’s Ninja/Z400 motorcycles assures of sure-footed handing and exceptional build quality. A relaxed ergonomic triangle accommodates a wide range of rider sizes as well.

The relatively upright riding stance and slightly foot-forward foot peg location put the rider in a position to control the bike, while also offering rider comfort. At just 140kg and 135kg respectively, the light weight of the Ninja and Z e-1 contributes to maneuverability too.
There is no clutch to operate either, meaning riders can simply twist the throttle and go. To find out more about the Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 you can visit their website, or contact your local dealership.
