JAC Motors Australia has confirmed pricing for the Hunter. The plug-in hybrid dual-cab ute starts from $49,988 plus on-road costs, with 360kW of class-leading power, and up to 3,500kg of towing as standard.
Before the first customer drives home in a Hunter, it will have already completed more than 100,000km of testing on Australian roads: durability runs, towing, load-carrying, hot weather, and on- and off-road evaluation.
Vehicle dynamics were overseen from day one by Michael Barber, the respected Australian vehicle dynamic tuning engineer whose past work includes some of the country’s most demanding local vehicle programs.
JAC has implemented all of the recommendations from the program, ensuring the Hunter reflects Barber’s full body of local development work. The combination of aggressive pricing and extensive local validation is deliberate.
The Hunter delivers 360kW of power and 1010Nm of combined driveline torque from the 2.0-litre TGDI petrol engine (370Nm), P2.5 front motor (300Nm), and P4 rear motor (340Nm), alongside combined fuel efficiency of 1.6-litres/100km (NEDC).
It also offers 1005km of combined range, up to 100km of EV-only travel, and up to 3,500kg of braked towing capacity. Two variants will be offered, including the Hunter Pro 4×4, and its X 4×4 sibling. The latter is priced from $54,844 plus on roads.
Both grades share the Hunter’s core credentials, with the X adding front and rear differential locks, a black styling package, heated front seats, a passenger 4-way power seat, 360-degree panoramic view camera and front parking sensors.
Power folding exterior mirrors, black roof rails, rear privacy glass, welcome puddle lamps, and a rear 220V accessory socket also feature. JAC is just weeks away from opening test drives on the Hunter, and registrations of interest are open now.
The first 1,000 buyers can go a step further and reserve their Hunter today for a fully refundable $1,000 deposit. If they take delivery of their vehicle, they’ll get a choice of a free home EV charger or a $500 JAC Genuine Accessories voucher.
