ADDING bold styling and substance to Australia’s best-selling ute-based SUV, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has introduced a new special edition based on the top-of-the-range MU-X 4×4 LS-T, the MU-X ONYX Edition.
This is the first ever special edition MU-X, and the ONYX Edition is the boldest and most connected SUV to date from IUA, with satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.
Unmistakably special, the MU-X ONYX Edition modernises the exterior with shadow chrome treatments across the rear tailgate and signature horizontal front grille. Gloss black elements further accentuate the front-end demeanour.
This has been bolstered by an aggressively-styled lower front chin spoiler, while the angled Bi-LED headlights, with LED daytime running lights, now benefit from a dusk sensor, automatically illuminating when needed.
From the side, the large wing mirrors forgo the usual chrome treatment in favour of the body colour, while the gloss black treatment continues towards the rear, with both sidesteps finished in this premium hue.
The rear end receives the same welcomed shadow chrome and gloss black treatment as the front, with the lower rear spoiler commanding the rear, in lieu of the traditional two-tone paint scheme.
Inside the MU-X ONYX Edition, it’s all about style, with quilted-leather accented trim, and a high-definition 6.8-inch infotainment system, a roof-mounted 10-inch DVD screen, 8-speaker audio, air-con vents for all rows, and three 12-volt outlets.
There are three 5-volt USB ports in the versatile and practical family hauler too. It also comes with space for seven adults, twelve cup holders, capacity for up to three ISOFIX child seats and up to 1830-litres of storage space.
The ONYX Edition also inherits the full suite of key defining features usually reserved to the LS-T, including a six-way electric driver’s seat, and a passive entry and start system.
It’s all powered by Isuzu’s exclusive 3.0-litre turbo diesel 4JJ1-TC HI power train, generating 130kW and 430Nm, paired with Isuzu’s proven 6-speed automatic transmission with dual-range Terrain Command 4×4.
It has a 3.0-tonne braked towing capacity and a hearty 5750kg Gross Combination Mass, ensuring it will appeal to tourers looking to tow a boat or caravan. 230mm of ground clearance and multi-link coil suspension across all four wheels caters for adventure too.
Backed with confidence, the complete range of Isuzu SUVs and utes, including the MU-X ONYX Edition, comes standard with Isuzu UTE Australia’s comprehensive ownership care package program, known as Service Plus 6-7-7.
It encompasses a 6-year/150,000km warranty, up to 7-years roadside assistance when serviced through IUA dealers, and 7-years capped price servicing.
