Hyundai’s latest high-performance electric vehicle, the IONIQ 6 N, has arrived down under, complete with a $115,000 price tag (plus on-roads). What you get for that is 478kW of power and 770Nm of torque, and a sprint time to 100km/h of just 3.2 seconds.
Building on the lauded IONIQ 5 N, the new model applies the same fun to drive, ultra high performance capability, this time in a striking streamliner sports sedan, guided by Hyundai N’s three-pillar philosophy: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar.
The IONIQ 6 N delivers exceptional cornering precision through advanced, low roll-centre suspension geometry, stroke-sensing electronically controlled dampers, an e-LSD, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in N-specific Pirelli P Zero 5 tyres.
Wide fenders and aerodynamic additions, including the motorsport-type swan-neck rear wing, deliver increased downforce, while body rigidity is optimised through additional weld points. The outcome is responsive steering, superb refinement and exceptional ride.
An advanced braking system combines high-performance hardware with intelligent controls to support both daily driving and track use, while maximising energy recovery. Supporting IONIQ 6 N’s driver focus, inside the cabin are N lightweight sports seats.
An exclusive N Pasubio steering wheel features customisable N1/N2 buttons, N-exclusive metal pedals, and an N knee support pad. It’s race track capable, thanks to N Grin Boost mode, an N e-Shift, and N launch control.
There’s even an N drift optimiser and track manager. Importantly, it’s also refined, including Performance Blue accented Alcantara suede and leather trim, a front N logo with welcome lighting, and aluminium N emblems.
An advanced N Battery system brings optimised battery temperature management to suit a range of track driving scenarios and multi-charging architecture brings 400V-800V compatibility. Range is 487km.
That translates to DC fast charging as low as 18 minutes from 10 to 80 per cent. At the heart of the IONIQ 6 N experience is N Active Sound+, a dynamic, multi-channel audio system that enriches the drive with immersive soundscapes such as the motorsport-inspired ‘Ignition’.
You’ll also find an EV performance-themed ‘Evolution’, and futuristic ‘Lightspeed’. N ambient shift light creates a multi-sensory connection, enveloping occupants in a synchronised glow to ensure gear changes are both seen and felt.
Thanks to the suspension package, the IONIQ 6 N’s finely tuned chassis deftly balances ride comfort with dynamic capability. Safety hasn’t been forgotten either, with forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, and highway driving assist.
The IONIQ 6 N is available in a single highly equipped grade with a standard sunroof. A sunroof delete is offered as a no-cost option. New Signature Performance Blue Pearl headlines the six exterior colours, which includes a choice of two matte colours.
The IONIQ 6 N is equipped with Bluelink connected car services (free for 5-years), which includes alert services including geo-fencing, valet, speed and time alerts, automatic collision notification, SOS, live weather, vehicle diagnostics and remote control of vehicle functions.
