A single-day (12-hour) IONIQ 5 N pre-sale will happen on September 15 2023, to give eager enthusiasts the opportunity to be among the first in Australia to take delivery of Hyundai N’s first high-performance, fully electric model.
The online pre-sale at midday and run through until midnight AEST on the day, which just happens to be N Birthday – the day the brand was unveiled for the first time, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Customers will be able to configure an IONIQ 5 N in their combination of options and exterior colour before securing their order with a $2,000 deposit, with initial deliveries scheduled for Q1 2024.
Pre-sale customers will receive a special gift package which includes a Hyundai N x Pelican set of suit cases, featuring two cases and a torch, as well as additional N merchandise, with a total value of around $1,000.
As for what makes the N version special, changes include body and chassis reinforcements that provide higher torsional rigidity and direct steering feel, enabling rally-inspired dual-motor all-wheel drive cornering.
Race track friendly, it features up to 478kW of power with N Grin Boost engaged, increased endurance with industry-leading thermal management and regenerative braking, as well as N e-shift and N Active Sound+.
The latter two deliver an electrifying sports car experience with tactile feel and immersive sound, while N Drift Optimiser is among an array of high-performance driving technologies integral to IONIQ 5 N, all designed to provide even more fun around the racetrack.
High-performance hardware includes electronically-controlled suspension, an electronic limited-slip rear differential (e-LSD), and forged 21-inch aluminium wheels wrapped in bespoke 275/35R21 Pirelli P-Zero tyres.
A quick-ratio steering rack and N-tuned brakes, featuring 400mm front discs clamped by four-piston monobloc callipers, a wing-type rear spoiler, orange-accented rear diffuser and air outlet, and an array of black trim parts complete IONIQ 5 N’s aggressive image.
The motorsport theme continues inside with N-branded interior elements including the newly designed N steering wheel, sports seats, scuff panels and metal pedals.
The IONIQ 5 N will be offered in a single highly equipped variant at $111,000 plus on-roads, with a choice of two options; a vision roof, or matte paint. Vehicles will be built to order based on individual customer selections.
