Harley-Davidson FXRG Gloves (product review)

HARLEY-DAVIDSON’S new FXRG lightweight summer gloves are a must for any rider searching for a new pair of gloves. Lightweight and completely breathable, the FXRG gloves offer great comfort and excellent throttle feel on the bike.

Personally, for us, we prefer a light weight glove that gives great feel and the FXRG offering from Harley-Davidson doesn’t disappoint. And they’re available in sizes from small to 3XL, which means there’s a size to suit most riders.

As with any bike gear though, we recommend trying them on to find your exact size before purchasing. Offering knuckle protection and being made of premium leather, the FXRG lightweight gloves sit at the top of the range.

Retailing at $156.52 (plus GST) on the Harley-Davidson Australia website, they’re definitely not cheap, but we feel with the quality comfort, feel and features of the glove, they are well worth the investment.

A nice touch is the media panel on the index finger. This allows riders of touring bikes great contact to scroll through their Boom Box systems without removing their gloves. It’s also a great feature for bike riders who have mobile phone mounts on their bikes.

It makes it easy to scroll through your phone for navigation etc, when pulled up on the side of the road, again without having to take your gloves off.

There is a specifically designed tab on the bottom of each glove too, which assists in pulling your gloves fully on. The FXRG gloves offer great flexibility around the wrist and are easily tightened with a Velcro strap.

We have had the opportunity to put in some kilometres in these gloves over a range of weather conditions from plus 30 degree days to low 20 degree days, and they performed well every time.

Specifically designed for summer, they did not become slippery with sweat either. Over longer journeys, the gloves remained comfortable, and do not bunch up. Nor are there any annoying pain points.

We can strongly recommend these as either a short or long ride pair of gloves and they will find a permanent place in our riding kit bag. To find out more, please contact your local Harley-Davidson dealer.

Pros – lightweight; breathable, great throttle feel.

Cons – probably need a Harley-Davidson to utilise these great gloves.
