GWM has expanded its electrified ute range, building on the popularity of the Alpha, with the addition of a Cannon Hi4-T Plug-in Hybrid. Complementing its larger sibling, the new model, is built on a body-on-frame four-wheel drive platform.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a high-output electric motor, producing a combined 310kW and 750Nm, while delivering fuel consumption of just 2.4-litres/100km (claimed – NEDC).
Unlike conventional hybrid systems, Hi4-T retains a traditional transmission and mechanical four-wheel drive system, ensuring capability is never sacrificed in pursuit of efficiency. With a large-capacity 33.1kWh battery, there’s 115km of EV-only driving too.
When it’s time to leave the city behind, the petrol engine seamlessly extends driving range to an impressive 1,037km (NEDC), eliminating the range anxiety often associated with full battery electric vehicles.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, including integrated 230V power outlets in the tub, transforms the Cannon Hi4-T into a mobile power source capable of running power tools on the worksite, camping equipment off-grid or household appliances.
Importantly, GWM will make this advanced electrification more accessible. When local pricing is confirmed, the Cannon Hi4-T PHEV will become one of Australia’s most affordable plug-in hybrid utes.
