IT was the unmissable Porsche event of the year for fans and photographers alike. In fact it was pretty much the unmissable car festival of the year – and thanks to photographer Kat Hawke, we were at the 2016 Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival.
Last held in 2013, this year’s event itself was held earlier this month at Sydney Motorsport Park and was a mammoth success. Visitors had the chance to ogle their favourite cars, watch a host of racing events (including GT3 Cup and Carrera Cup, sports car, regularity and historic racing events), and watch in awe at the demonstration laps for the Porsche 935-77 and Porsche LMP1-98.
Off track, there were static car displays (including vehicles all the way from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart), a kid-zone and a range of other activities. The legendary urban outlaw and Porsche guru Magnus Walker was also on hand as part of the festivities.
Kat Hawke is a Sydney-based photographer. Her past work includes a number of world surfing tour events (including The Beachley Classic), and attending the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion at Laguna Seca in California (with ex-NASCAR and vintage Porsche racer Ron Goodman).
