Ford unveils expanded 2026 F-150 range

Ford has today confirmed a refreshed F‑150 lineup for the Australian market, led by the new Platinum variant. Bringing more luxury to the segment, it sits atop the range. There’s a refreshed look, improved comfort and additional capability too.

The Platinum scores unique gloss‑black exterior accents, 20‑inch painted gloss black wheels, auto power‑deployable side steps, a multi‑folding hard tonneau cover, and a bespoke suspension tune using continuously controlled dampers.

Interior features include black onyx luxury trim, plush multi‑adjustable front seats with multi‑setting massage and a near‑flat maximum recline sleeping position for breaks. It and the Lariat get a pro-access tailgate.

The innovative setup offers three ways to open (including a 100-degree integrated swing gate that can be operated with one hand or the key fob). Check stops negate the risk of banging into a trailer hitch and reduce the reach into the tub by up to 48cm.

For the XLT, there’s LED exterior lighting, a new 20‑inch wheel design and larger 12‑inch infotainment and driver instrument displays as standard. It also retains the 136‑litre fuel tank and part‑time 4×4 configuration.

Other changes include a power twin‑panel moonroof, ambient lighting, memory functions for pedals/mirrors/steering/driver seat, wireless charging, rear heated seats and a 14‑speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system for the Lariat.

The updated F‑150 continues to be powered by a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, producing 298KW at 6000rpm and 678Nm at 3100rpm, with a 4500kg maximum braked towing capacity. The powertrain is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

In short wheelbase trim, the XLT, Lariat and Platinum all have a GCM of 7365kg, with a GVM of 3315kg. Kerb weight sits at 2462kg, 2546kg and 2611kg respectively (with payload at 853kg, 769kg and 704kg).

The long wheelbase XLT, Lariat and Platinum have a GCM of 7410kg and a GVM of 3360kg. Kerb weight sits at 2482kg, 2566kg and 2636kg respectively (with payload at 878kg, 794kg and 724kg).

Lariat and Platinum models come standard with an extensive driver assist suite that includes intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering, evasive steer assist, intersection assist, pro trailer backup assist, and blind spot monitoring.

The latter supports cross traffic alert. There’s also reverse brake assist and a 360-degree camera system (the Platinum scores an extra rear cargo view camera).  Ford emphasises these features are supplemental and drivers must remain attentive.

Every F-150 comes with a tough bed spray-in bedliner, load box lighting, a small lockable storage compartment and a 12v port in the tray, and a tailgate with flexible step and work surface. Underbody skid plates protect the front differential, transfer case and fuel tank.

Front tow hooks feature, while inside, there’s multiple USB‑C ports (centre stack, inside centre console, rear of centre console), while the XLT variant gets a mobile office style interior work surface.

The 2026 Ford F-150 will be priced from $114,950 for the XLT, $143,950 for the Lariat and $163,950 for the Platinum – all plus on-roads. It will continue to be re‑manufactured by RMA Automotive Australia in Mickleham, Victoria. Deliveries will commence in the coming weeks.

You can find out more on the Ford Australia website, or by talking to your local dealership. Exhaust Notes Australia will publish a full launch drive review of the new F-150 at 2pm AEDT this Thursday, 26 March 2026.
